Is it just me or has this year gone really fast? I thought 2017 went fast but 2018 has flown by and Halloween is fast approaching. My son adores Halloween and we always try to go to as many Halloween events as possible. I have put together a useful list of what’s on for Halloween, in the East Midlands. It’s full of things to do at some of the top attractions across Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Bell’s Garden Outlet near Boston – Bell’s Pumpkin Patch – Lincolnshire

Bell’s Pumpkin Patch opens October 13th. Attractions include pick your own pumpkins, bounce and climb, maize maze, catapults and cannon, carving tent and much more.

Belvoir Castle – Halloween ‘School of Witchcraft & Wizardry’ – Leicestershire

“27th – 31st October – Halloween ‘School of Witchcraft & Wizardry’. Storytelling, potions, broomstick making, a Banquet in the Great Hall, all sorts could happen in Belvoir Castle. Bolsover Castle – Tricks and Tonics – Derbyshire

“Thrilling tricks and tasty treats await at creepy Bolsover Castle this half term! Burghley House – Halloween Trail & Spooky Tours – Lincolnshire

“During October why not come and join us for the Burghley Halloween Trail around the Sculpture Garden. Tread through the crispy Autumn leaves and find the hidden spooks to receive a treat. Afterwards why not warm up in the Garden Cafe with a yummy hot chocolate or a cup of steaming soup? Open daily from 11am to 5pm (last admission at 4.30pm).” We took part in their Halloween Trail last year and it was great fun.

“Our popular Spooky Tours are returning, with local ghostly expert Martin Tempest, from Wednesday 17th to Wednesday 31st October. The tours are designed to be scary but fun. Although not recommended for children under 11, we leave it up to parents to decide as you know your children best!”

Butlins Skegness – October Half Term breaks – Lincolnshire

Conkers – Halloween Family Nights – Leicestershire

“Halloween Family nights – Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st October. Doors open 6.30pm. Are you prepared to come along and follow their footsteps into the haunted woods? With all the ghostly ghouls, witches and trolls…will you make it out alive? Will you take a trip on the runaway train too? Don’t forget all are welcome to the “Ugly Bugs Disco” and we will beholding a fancy dress competition with creepy prizes for the winners (Ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-10, 10 +, Adults). There are craft activities and a Flip & Dippy show too!”

Creswell Crags – Return of Primordial Ooze – Nottinghamshire

“Sat, 27th Oct 2018 – Fri, 2nd Nov 2018. 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Our Super Slime event is back with a Halloween-y twist! Every day throughout the half term, we will be opening our slime cave for your budding slime experts to come and make their own crunchy slime, scented slime, coloured slime, spooky slime… the possibility is endless! £3 per pot of slime made. Payable at reception. No need to book, turn up and you’ll be given the next available time slot.”

Doddington Hall – PYO Pumpkins – Lincolnshire

Easton Walled Gardens – Half Term Activities – Lincolnshire

“17th – 28th October (on our usual open days). The original Pumpkin Rolling event returns to Easton Walled Gardens! This event is so much fun and children (and their grown-ups) can spend as much time as they like rolling their pumpkins down the terraces. Follow the Halloween Trail around the 12-acre gardens and children are sure to be happily worn out after an active day!”

Great Central Railway – Steam & Scream – Leicestershire

Steam and Scream. 31st October – “TRAINS DEPART FROM LOUGHBOROUGH AT 5.40pm, 6.40pm, 7.40pm and 8.40pm. Please note the 8.40pm service is the final service of the night. AT LOUGHBOROUGH – Meet the Beasts – scare yourself silly with a selection of snakes, spiders and creepy crawlies some of which can also be handled if you dare!. Curious Characters The Joker and Harley Quinn will be travelling on the train ready to spook you!. Keep an eye out for the scary, spooky characters lurking on the platform. PRIZE FOR THE BEST DRESSED – upload your photos of you dressed in your scariest costumes, at the event, to our Facebook page and we will choose our favourite on Tuesday 6th November! Gulliver’s Matlock – Monster Magic – Derbyshire

Lincoln Castle – Prison of Smells, Spooks and Stories – Lincolnshire

Prison of Smells, Spooks and Stories. Meet some unsavoury characters this Half Term! Event: 11am – 4pm. Castle Attractions: 10am – 4pm. Step inside the Victorian Prison during Half Term and you will be sure to meet some unsavoury characters from Victorian England. Spooky Stories……. and Smelly Stories!”

Lincolnshire Wolds Railway – Trick or Treat! – Lincolnshire

“The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is asking children to come dressed as ghosts and goblins, witches and wizards, and even creepy clowns, at its special Halloween event on Sunday 29th October. There will be spooky entertainment on board the special steam-hauled Ghost Train, which will be running hourly from 2.45 to 5.45pm at Ludborough station so prepare to be scared! Normal ticket prices apply: £7 adults, £5 seniors, £4 children and a family ticket costs £18 for two adults with up to four children. Passengers can travel up and down on the train as many times as they like during the day.”

Manor Farm and Woodlands – Halloween Fun Day – Leicestershire

“We’ll be carving pumpkins and having spooky fun in the woodlands on Sunday 28th October. Come along in fancy dress for games, crafts and animal activities. Explore the spooky trail. Make toast on the woodland campfire. Watch the pigs as they bob for apples. Join in our Halloween hunt. Visit the craft room to make something spooky to take home. And join in with a day of animal activities along the way. From 11am until 3pm we’ll also be carving pumpkins – free pumpkin for every child. Choose your own pumpkin, scoop out the flesh, draw a spooky design and one of our team will carve it especially for you. If you’re brave enough, join the wizard and his owl at the end of the day for our Spooky.”

National Space Centre – Family Halloween party – Leicestershire

27th October. Doors open at 6pm, event ends at 10pm. Get into the ‘spirit’ of things with a special evening for all the family to enjoy, even the mummies. We are hosting the ultimate Halloween ex-FEAR-ience, with live Alien Encounters, Silent Disco, Slime Making and an out of this world Costume Competition… it will be positively defrightful.”

Rockingham Castle – Halloween Fun – Leicestershire

Halloween Fun 16th to 18th October 2018. 23rd to 25th October 2018. The witches of Rockingham are gathering to celebrate a spooktacular Halloween at Rockingham Castle! Rufford Abbey – Monster Hunt Trail – Nottinghamshire

“Dates: 20 October –  4 November. Times: 10.30am – 4.00pm Daily. Cost: £2 per monster map. Tattershall Castle – Hallowe’en Half Term – Lincolnshire

Tattershall Farm – Spooky Walk – Lincolnshire
