Things to do Easter North Yorkshire 2020
When? Saturday 4th – Sunday 19th April Event – Easter Trail. About – Hop through Strid Wood and keep your eyes peeled for our larger than life bunnies hiding in the trees. They shouldn’t be too hard to find with their brightly coloured coats on! The Easter Bunny will be in situ over the Easter weekend 10 April – 13 April (inclusive). The Easter Trail will run every day from Saturday 4 April – Sunday 19 April.

When? Friday 3rd – Saturday 18th April Event – Easter Holidays. About – Easter trails for all the family to enjoy. Included in admission charge.

When? Saturday 4th – Sunday 19th April Event – Easter at Castle Howard. About – Bird eggs come in different shapes and sizes and birds protect their eggs in different ways – with help from their friends, the Skelves! Pick up a trail sheet from our Ticket Office and join us on a woodland trail to help the Skelves on their eggcellent mission!

When? Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th April Event – Living History Easter Bank holiday weekend. About – Several small groups of re-enactors including WW2 Days Gone By and Armed Forces Movement Control, will be on site over the bank holiday weekend. The groups will be portraying both military and civilians, helping to enhance the 1940s theme and allowing visitors to get up close to uniforms, clothing and kit of the period. When? 4th-9th & 14th – 19th April Event – Signs of Spring trail. About – New life is blooming at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal. Follow the family trail to find signs of spring around the grounds. Flowers are a very important part of nature. They provide food for lots of bugs and bees. Spot large flower sculptures and learn lots of flower facts around the abbey and water garden. Hesketh Farm Park
When? Saturday 4th – Sunday 19th April Event – Easter. About – Our annual Easter trail takes place around the farm park. Join in the fun searching out the hidden eggs, untangling the letters which reveals the winning word to collect your edible prize.

Mother Shipton’s Cave
When? Saturday 4th – Sunday 19th April Event – Hoppity Hop Easter Adventure. About – Find all the woodland bunnies hopping through the park, and help Mr McGregor create a vegetable garden masterpiece! Little gardeners can decorate a pot, then plant a Sunflower seed to take home and grow. There are also eggs to decorate so you can create your own colourful keepsake. Read our review.

Newby Hall and Gardens
When? 12th – 13th April Event – Enchanted Wood. About – Join us at Newby Hall for our ever popular Easter Family Fun Days. This year there will be an Enchanted Wood theme in the Woodland Walk! Solve clues, sit at the Giant’s table, delight at the Fairy Doors, avoid the Troll as you head over the bridge and find the ingredients to pop into the cauldron!

When? Sat 4th – Sun 19th April Event – Secret Garden. About – To celebrate the launch of the new STUDIOCANAL film The Secret Garden starring Colin Firth and Julie Walters, in cinemas this Easter. This much-loved family favourite will be brought to life on-site with an exciting garden trail in search of 6 hidden keys. Plus Easter activities.

When? Fri 10th April Event – Easter Egg Hunt. About – Come along and join in the Easter Fun here at Thornton Hall Country Park. A funfilled day for you to join our Easter Egg Hunt and meet our very own Thornton Hall Country Park Rabbit. Plus meet Peter Rabbit 12th April.

Askham Bryan Wildlife Park – Askham Bryan Wildlife and Conservation Park is a small wildlife park set in the beautiful arboretum at Askham Bryan College. Outside in the park you might spot monkeys, meerkats and other amazing animals. The indoor Wildlife of the World section is home to a variety of creatures from clownfish to civets. Animal experiences are available from 5+.

Big Sheep and Little Cow Farm – Our farm tours currently run between 11.00am and 3:30pm. No need to book just come down to the farm and we will book you onto the next available tour upon arrival. There is also an indoor playbarn.

Monk Park Farm – Our animals are the stars of the show here at Monk Park Farm, but there are loads of other fun things to do as well! You can take a barrel ride around the farm allowing you to get up close to lots of our animals including the Alpacas, Wallabies, Goats and more. Our hay barn is really popular with big bales to climb on and ropes to swing on.

Northwood Fairy Trail – We are a unique fairy sanctuary, the first of its kind, and we merely present the forgotten history of Northwood and display the fairy artefacts and treasures we have found over the years – for young and old alike to enjoy.
Ryedale Folk Museum – There’s lots to see and do at Ryedale Folk Museum. You can take a step back in time as you wander in and out of our historic buildings, and find out about life in the past. For most of the year we have animals such as rare breed pigs, sheep and chickens. There’s lots to explore…

York – Don’t forget all the great things to do in York. There’s the FREE National Railway museum, Jorvik viking centre, DIG and York Cathedral. Plus plenty of other great museums.
