Belton House – Summer Nights Film Festival – Lincolnshire

About – “This September sees the return of the popular summer nights film festival to Belton House. About – Gates open for morning sessions at 10.30am and close at 4.30pm. Tickets are available online to pre-purchase at the advance ticket rates. Ticket prices will increase during the festival. Daytime tickets will give access to both screenings during the day. This is an outdoor event which will continue even in rain.

Cleethorpes Light Coast Railway – 70th Anniversary Weekend – Lincolnshire
When? – Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July. 70th Anniversary Weekend
About – “The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway celebrates its 70th Anniversary. To mark this very special occasion, an intensive timetable will be in operation throughout the weekend featuring residents from the railway and some very special guests: ‘Katie’ from Kirklees Light Railway, ‘Smokey Joe’ from Sherwood Forest Railway and ‘Sian’ who is owned by the Sian Project Group and is currently residing at Kirklees Light Railway.
At Lakeside Station, there will be entertainment, children’s activities, model railway layouts, display of the railways history and much more. Get behind the regulator of a CCLR resident in Driver for a Fiver. An official ceremony on Saturday 14th will mark the railways anniversary.”
Crich Tramway Museum – Home Front Event + Various Events – Derbyshire

About – “Step back in time to the 1940s with our World War II- Home front event, which returns for two days. Vintage trams will mix with military vehicles and re-enactors, while wartime fayre will be served in Rita’s Tearooms and the Red Lion Pub will offer drinks and traditional pub games. War time songs will be performed by live performers. To complete the nostalgia, there will be a ‘Boot Camp’ for children.”

About – “The amazing Kingdom LEGO Brick show is coming to Lincoln Castle. Join us this summer for this fabulous interactive show of sword and sorcery, a fantastical quest with dragons, a wizard and a Princesses, all created in LEGO bricks! Help Princess Orra on her quest to save the Brick Kingdom and defeat the evil Baron. Find the Princess and discover her friends from a medieval fantasy land inside Lincoln Castle. Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre – East Kirby Air Show – Props and Pistons – Lincolnshire

About – “This is our annual full airshow and is run to help raise funds for the on-going restoration of Avro Lancaster NX611. We have limited tickets to 5,000 so it is vital that you try to buy your tickets early as we sold out last year. We are happy to say that we have been able to secure some of the best displays in the country so the audience should not be disappointed! It is imperative that all those who are planning coming to the event do buy their tickets before hand so that they can gain entry to the site.
We will have re-enactors, Lancaster taxy runs, trade stalls, vintage cars, Military vehicles and much more to give you an excellent family day out.”

Midland Railway Butterley – Trains to the Seaside – Derbyshire

About – From 31st July until 2nd September 2018, every day except for Monday 6th, 13th & 20th August, you will be able follow in the footsteps of families of times gone by. Come to Butterley Station in Derbyshire, from where you will be transported by steam or heritage diesel train to the newly created beach at Swanwick Junction. When you have built and destroyed your sand castles; sunned yourself on your beach towel; devoured your beach picnic and had your picture taken with your head popping through an amusing portrait, take some time out to visit the various museums, demonstration signal box, country park, buffet and childrens’ playground at Swanwick Junction before returning by train to Butterley Station.
National Civil War Centre Newark – Summer of Spies – Nottinghamshire

Normanby Hall – Lincolnshire
About – I can’t find any information regarding specific events over the summer holidays at Normanby Hall. However as well as the splash park, land train and farming museum at Normanby they have now added new play areas and a GoApe adventure area. – New play areas are now open. “Hours of imaginative play await; climb the mega deck tower, explore the performer dome, work the sand digger and glide across the play area on the cableway.” Plus GoApe TreeTop Adventure. National Space Centre, Leicester – Secret world of gases – Leicestershire

About – “Nottingham’s favourite family festival returns to the beautiful setting of Wollaton Park on Saturday 21 July 2018. Springfields Outlet – Adventureland Now Open – Lincolnshire
When? – NOW – Stop the press Adventureland Now Open including JCB Young Drivers Zone.
About – Recently opened the exciting new adventure play area at Springfields Outlet. “This is the UK’s largest JCB Young Drivers Zone, giving children an exciting opportunity to drive around in bright yellow, pedal powered mini diggers, enjoy the huge JCB slide, scaffold-themed climbing frame and use their imagination on many other unique interactive play equipment (adults must accompany their children at all times). Our JCB Young Drivers Zone is an amazing themed play experience for children up to the age of 12, not to be confused with any other digger attraction such as Digger Land.
Families will also be able to walk through the trees at the new Tree Top Village that has 7 wooden towers and a massive 12m2 suspended net. Plus have fun at Springy’s Beach, that has a sand play area and rock pool water stream all covered by a huge canopy so that fun can be had whatever the weather. There is still the Dino Golf and miniature railway.”

About – Chapterhouse Open Air Theatre are touring the region with a range of outdoor theatre productions. They are covering many areas of the midlands and beyond. There will be performances of 6 plays including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Little Women and Robin Hood and his merry men. There are more events than I can list so please check out their website for further information. A lot of the performance times start at 6pm so are family friendly. They are touring from June until September.
