There is certainly a lot less on in 2020 than previous years for Halloween in the North West of England. That’s not to say that there’s nothing on though. I’ve found events in all of the counties and there are plenty of ideas to keep you busy during October half-term.

Arley Hall Gardens – Halloween Spooktacular – Cheshire
Join The Christie this Halloween as we head to the stunning Woodlands of Arley Hall and Gardens to host a series of spooky drive-in movies. With state of the art sound, the iCONIC 100 screen and a fantastic selection of movies, food and drinks, the Drive-in for The Christie is the perfect answer to a social distanced, socially bubbled night in support of the staff and patients of The Christie.
The Drive-in for The Christie promises to be a spooktacular event, with everything from frightfully fun family films to some more seriously scary movies for grown ups. And if you bring the kids along to one of the PG films, they’ll get their very own trick or treat goody bags!

Beeston Castle – Spooky Castle – Cheshire
Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Beeston Castle. Follow the trail to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories. There’s a frighteningly fun fancy dress competition every day – just come in your scariest outfits to be in with a chance of winning.

How much? FREE for English Heritage members. An adult ticket costs £9.90, children 5-17 are £6 each. Other pricing options are available. Everyone must prebook a ticket.
Cockfields Farm – Pumpkin Festival – Greater Manchester
Grab a wheelbarrow and head out to the Pumpkin Patch to choose that special Pumpkin. Outdoor Carving Area you can leave the mess with US !! We have lots going on all day Including: Cuddle the Bunnies & Guinea Pigs. Join in the Halloween Treasure Hunt and claim your prize. Hand Feed the Barn Animals. Grab the Perfect Family Picture in the Pumpkin Village. Choose your Perfect Pumpkin and carve a scary Face. Unlimited Rides on the Fairground Carousel.

Farmer Teds – Hallo week – Lancashire
The Farm will be decorated during October to celebrate the imminent arrival of Halloween!
Every weekend (not including Thursdays & Friday mornings up to 3 pm) leading up to Halloweek starting Saturday, October 3rd there will be plenty of spooky activities. Including – Scary straw bale art. Every child over the age of 2 will receive a pumpkin. There will be pumpkin carving areas and more.

Muncaster Castle – Halloween – Cumbria
Plague medicine workshops, lantern and drumming workshops and fabulous fire shows. Be entertained by the Witch Warbler trails around the gardens, the eerie Enchanted trail and even a Juggling Jester!

How much? Halloween General Entry tickets are valid for all outside Halloween activities, including the day time bird shows (first come first serve). These tickets exclude entry to the Castle for both the day time guided tour and the Sledgehammer House of Horror evening show and Twilight Owls. Basic tickets are £13.50 for an adult, £6.75 for a child, under 5’s are free. Tickets must be prebooked.

Smithills Open Farm – Halloween 2020 – Greater Manchester
Come and join us for our Pumpkin Picking extravaganza. 17th & 18th October and then from the 24th until the 31st October. Farm staff will be in fancy dress! Suitable for children of all ages, and pram-friendly.
This year’s daytime event runs from Saturday 24th until Saturday 31st October.

Tatton Park Farm – Dragon Trail – Cheshire
Please note the pumpkin patch is sold out.
Digby the Dragon has lost his precious eggs, can you help him find them all? Make sure to keep track of the amount so you can collect your reward at the end. Why not come and complete the trail dressed in your favourite goulish outfit and see if you can spot any of the Farm staff dressed up as well. Take a spooky selfie with Digby in the woodland, then collect your chocolate egg reward at the Farm exit (subject to availability).

Walby Farm Park – Pumpkin Picking – Cumbria
Grab a wheelbarrow & choose the perfect pumpkin, we also have somewhere to carve it so you can leave the mess with us!
29th & 30th only – We are very excited to launch our moonlit & floodlit Pumpkin Picking after hours event! From 6.30pm to 9.00pm on Thurs 29 & Fri 30 October you will be able to explore our floodlit pumpkin patch to choose your pumpkin!
