This is a round-up post for events this Halloween 2020 in Yorkshire, for October half=term. I’ve found events in all of the counties and there are plenty of ideas to keep you busy..

Allerthorpe Lakeland – Halloween event – East Riding

“We’re still planning to run our half-term school holiday Halloween activities. Everything included. Pumpkin Trail. Pumpkin Carving. Spooky Art Tie Dye T-shirt or baseball cap. Craft a Bird fat ball. Price is per child for all Halloween activities. All you need is included. Must be pre-booked online with admission.”

Beetle Bank Farm – Spooktacular! – North Yorkshire

“Join in the Fearsome Festive Fun this Halloween, with something a little different this year. Including Icky Sticky Arts and Crafts.
Petrifying Pumpkin Calving.…..and a Friendly Spectre is coming to visit! Dare you enter Frankie’s Laboratory. A Scare Room Extraordinaire. With Tricks and Treats for all ages. Enter if you Dare.”

How much? Entrance fee plus a small fee per activity. An adult entrance ticket is £6 per person. Under 2’s are free.

Birchfield Ice-Cream – Pumpkin Festival – North Yorkshire

“This year our pumpkin festival maybe a little different. We will be following government guidelines and closely watching any changes through September-October. Visit our Pumpkin patch where we grow 6 acres of pumpkins in many different colours and varieties. Grab a wheelbarrow and head to the patch to choose your perfect pumpkin! Make sure your wear your wellies or boots as you will pick the from the field and it can get muddy!”

When? 3rd – 31st October. 10 am until 4 pm.

Booking/how much – Entrance fee for the carving barn, farm maze and woodland walk £2.50 per person. There is currently no mention of having to prebook.

Bolton Abbey – Pumpkin Trail – North Yorkshire

“Enter at your own risk through the giant spooky gates at the start of Strid Wood. Follow our trail of over-sized pumpkins through Strid Wood and discover the mystery boxes hidden among the trees. Inside each box is a clue to help unravel a mystery! Collect your trail sheet from outside the Cavendish Shop and let the fun commence!”

When? 24th October – 1st November.

How much? £10 per car. Tickets must be pre-booked to enjoy this activity. We would advise booking the Riverside car park to access the Pumpkin Trail.

Boston Park Farm – Shriek Week – South Yorkshire

“Search the maize for hidden pumpkins, buy a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch and make your own lantern. Tricks, treats, crafts and games for everyone to enjoy. Tickets must be booked online before arriving. The farm trail, indoor play areas and tearooms will be open as usual. Plus there will be a late-night family pumpkin hunt on the 30th and 31st October.”

When? 17th – 31st October. 10 am until 4 pm.

How much? Tickets are £4.00 for an adult and £6.00 for a child at weekends and during half term. Midweek during term time tickets are £5.00 for a child and £2.00 for an adult.

Brimham Rocks Activity Farm – Halloween & Pumpkin Festival – North Yorkshire

“Our Halloween plans have now been finalised! Don’t forget to book in to secure your place as we are running on a limited capacity to ensure we are following government restrictions. All activities will be run following government guidelines as everyone’s safety is our priority!”

How much? Entry: Adults £5, Age 2+ £6, Under 2’s £3, Babies free. Pumpkins will be an additional £3.50 on top of the entry fee.

Brodsworth Hall and Gardens – Spooky Brodsworth – South Yorkshire

“Follow the trail to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories. There’s a frighteningly fun fancy dress competition every day – just come in your scariest outfits to be in with a chance of winning.”

When? Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November. 10 am until 4 pm.

How much? It is free for members of English Heritage but you must prebook online. An adult standard ticket is £10 and £6.00 for a child aged 5-17. Under 5’s are free and other pricing options are available.

Burton Agnes – Spooky Woodland Trail – East Yorkshire

“Intrepid visitors are invited on an eerie hunt round the Hall’s atmospheric woodland, where clues are hidden amidst spooky Halloween scenes of witches, spiders and ghostly figures. Once the entire puzzle has been solved, a treat awaits in the Gift Shop. Try not to let the haunting sounds and mysterious shadows of the historic woodland walk scare you whilst searching!”

When? Friday 23rd October – Sunday 1st November. 11 am until 4 pm.

How much? Most events are the standard entry price plus small additional charges for goodie bags. The pantomime is £10 for a child and £20 for an adult with a discount for members.

Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway – Wizard Express – North Yorkshire

They have a variety of different themed days this October half term. Including:

“Wizards and witches
Trick or Treat Sweets to give away – even for adults
Costume competition (best child and best adult costume of the carriage)
Colouring in activities while on the train
Games while on the train
Wizard training.”

When? 27th, 31st October and the 1st November. With four daytime departures and one evening departure on the 31st.

How much? Normal entrance fee of £13.95 for 3+ years, £5.95 1-2 years and free under 1.

Farmer Copleys – Pumpkin Festival – West Yorkshire

“Our famous Pumpkin Festival here at Farmer Copleys will return in 2020 and is guaranteed to be bigger and better than before! This year we will plant in excess of 130,000 pumpkin plants of every shape size and colour, to ensure you find your perfect pumpkin. Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival 2020 will of course have the usual fun activities, entertainment and stalls.”

When? 3rd & 4th, 10th & 11th and 17th to 31st October.

Booking/how much – Advance ticket only via their online booking system. Tickets are just £2 each and under 2’s are free/do not require a ticket.

Filey Bird and Animal Garden – North Yorkshire

“We are pleased to announce it will be going ahead ‘as usual’! There will be family-friendly spooky-themed areas and decorations. We are an outdoor attraction so all of this will be safely outside in the fresh air! This marks the end of the season for us so it’s great to finish on a high! You even get a free bag of animal food if you’re wearing Full Halloween Fancy Dress.”

Flamingo Land – Halloween – North Yorkshire

“This Halloween, we have a host of spooktacular events, attractions and activities sure to thrill the whole family!

From 10am until Twilight daily. Park admission prices are as standard and includes access to the firework display.
Evening only tickets (from 4pm) are available for £10 per person for the last hour of rides, to see the Riverside13 Show and to enjoy the firework display (on selected dates).”

How much? Varying costs depening on if you visit in the day or at night. Extra cost of £3 for a trick or treat trail. Daytime admission is from £33 per person.

Forbidden Corner – Halloween – North Yorkshire

Humble Bee Farm – Pumpkin Patch & Halloween Trail – North Yorkshire

“You can book either a morning slot of 10am-12noon OR an afternoon slot of 1pm-3pm. Come and join us at the farm to pick a pumpkin, carve it, and then take an exciting walk around our Halloween Nature Trail. Food and drink will be available to purchase – Cash only. Dogs are welcome, but must be on leads at all times.”

When? From Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October

Kiplin Hall and Gardens – Crowe’s Wood Trail – North Yorkshire

“Visitors are invited to step into a world of frighteningly good fun and fantasy this Halloween on a trail that explores the historic Crowe’s Wood at Kiplin. Starting off in the Walled Garden brave visitors set forth through the pumpkin patch, into the Garden Museum, and beyond into the ancient woodland where the brave-hearted will encounter spooky characters from the past lurking in the undergrowth. The route isn’t accessible to most pushchairs.”

When? Saturday 24th October until Sunday 1st November. 10 am until 5 pm.

Kemps Farm at Horsforth – Pick Your Own – West Yorkshire

“Pumpkin picking will be available from 16th October 2020 right through to Halloween – online booking is essential. We have planted over 37,000 pumpkins this year, made up of 10 different varieties from mini munchkins to jumbo sized and warty, white, striped and of course orange ones.  How will you carve yours?

On site facilities, subject to change due to COVID restrictions – wheelbarrow hire, straw bale mini-maze, pumpkin carving area (carving kits available to purchase) refreshments, tractor and trailer rides. Sorry, no toilet facilities. Contactless payment is preferred but cash is accepted. Wellies and sensible outdoor clothing recommended.”

Kirklees Light Railway – Wizard Express – West Yorkshire

“Junior witches & wizards-in-the-making are invited to step aboard our spectacular steam train express which will transport them to Wizarding Class at Shelley Station. During the 45 minute interactive session, our magical guests will help all the wannabe witches/wizards learn everything they need to know for a life of broomstick-riding, wand-waving & potion-making!”

When? Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October. There are three trains a day.

Lightwater Valley – Spooky Half Term – North Yorkshire

“Lightwater Valley will be hosting a hocus pocus half term full of activities to keep young families eerily entertained in-between rides. Younger visitors will love taking a trip down Trick or Treat Street for the chance to get some sweet treats and practise their aim on the Ghoul Shoot targets.

Venture into the Abandoned Theatre and walk through spooky scenes of wicked witches and friendly ghosts. Whilst enjoying thrills and chills on the family fun rides be sure to keep an eye out for the thirteen hidden ghosts lurking around the park and meet and greet some creepy characters.”

Lotherton Hall – Spooky Skeleton Trail – West Yorkshire

“Visit Lotherton this October half term and follow the spooky skeletons trail around the estate and into the haunted house! Dress up in your best Halloween costume and prepare to be scared as you explore the woods and seek out all of the skeletons who have made Lotherton their home.

A trail will be available to download or pick up when you visit, along with downloadable Halloween craft activities to do at home and share with us on social media. Our new visitor route through the servants quarters and historic rooms will be dressed to impress for Halloween.”

When? 24th October until the 1st November

How much? Tickets must be purchased online in advance. £7.80 for an adult and £3.90 for a child aged 5-15. Under 5’s are free and a family ticket is £23.70

Mother Shipton’s Cave – Halloween – North Yorkshire

“Suitable for all ages, explore the spooky forest and Halloween Haunted Village, but watch out for witches, ghosts and creepy skeletons around every corner! There’s lots of ghoulish fun to be had with photo opportunities and fancy dress competitions.”

When? Saturday 24th October until Sunday 1st November. 10 am until 4:30 pm.

How much? They are still charging their by car prices. A car of up to 5 people is £30 and additional people are £10 each. Pedestrian tickets are £10 and they do not allow large vehicles (they don’t fit through the entrance). Prebooking is essential.

Newby Hall and Gardens – Spooky Halloween – North Yorkshire

“Join us for Halloween Fun at Newby Hall this Autumn. As well as Newby’s visitor favourites, such as the Adventure Playground and the beautiful gardens, the miniature railway will become a ‘Ghost Train’ complete with spooky surprises along the route! If you dare, head out into the Wicked Woodland Walk and follow our chilling trail.”

Piglets Adventure Farm – Pumpkin Festival – North Yorkshire

“Kids will get a pumpkin included in their ticket which they can pick from the pumpkin patch. They can then get carving in the carving tent. There is a maize maze with ghosts hiding inside. They also have pumpkin slingshot and corn cannon especially for the pumpkin festival.”

When? Every weekend in October and every day from 24th October until 1st November.

Sledmere House – Spooky Maize Maze & Petrifying Pumpkin Hunt – North Yorkshire

Spilman’s – Pumpkin Festival – North Yorkshire

“As part of your ticket purchase they are giving you £10 credit to spend anywhere* on the farm during your visit. *please note the fairground rides are cash only and not included in the credit system. Things to do include pick your pumpkin & carve it . PYO Sunflower & potatoes (first 2 weekends only). Rainbow Maize Maze. Blast the Corn Cannon. Tractor Rides and climb on the Bale Mountain.”

Stockeld Park – Halloween Adventure – North Yorkshire

“There’s so much on this Halloween I can’t include everything in detail so make sure you click the link above.

Thornton Hall Country Park – Spooky drive thru and more – North Yorkshire

“There’s plenty on this Halloween at Thornton Hall.

Pumpkin picking will commence from the 10th October until the 31st. Grab your mini wheelbarrow and join us to see our giant spider; Fred Web, and our spooky characters in our enchanted pumpkin patch. After picking your pumpkin, wash off your wellies in our fun wellie wash, and head over to our show area for spooky demonstrations and shows.

Half term haunt tickets and Spooky drive-thru tickets coming soon.
Our spooky drive-thru launches from the 10th. Just wait to see what’s escaped from the farm as you drive through acres of countryside wondering what’s behind every corner!”

Thorp Perrow – Halloween Trail – North Yorkshire

” Spooky season is nearly upon us in the Arboretum marking the start of our Halloween trail which opens on the 10th October and runs daily until 1st November.

The trail is designed to take you and your family around the Arboretum in search of spooky creatures. You’ll stumble across tombs and skeletons and many more Halloween frights. Our team has been busy thinking up lots of new ways to keep everyone on their toes and looking over their shoulders! There will also be hourly flying displays at the bird of prey and mammal centre, along with the chance to see the baby meerkats.”

William’s Den – Spooky Fun – East Yorkshire

“Join us for some SPOOK-TACULAR fun. Our ALL DAY Ticket includes a 1 h 30 indoor play session in the Haunted Den. All-day play in our outdoor Den. A Forbidden Forest trail. A FREE pumpkin for every full paying child and a few other tricks and treats that we have up our sleeves.”

York Maze – Hallowtween – North Yorkshire

This is the only event on at York Maze this year.

“Venture into a new dimension of spine tingling fun as we open 3 of our infamous scare houses during the daytime for all fearless 10-15 year olds and adults of a more nervous disposition. Experience all the shocks and thrills of Corny’s Cornevil, Barnaggedon 3D and The Singularity, but without any of the creatures that roam their corridors during the night time…but don’t be fooled into thinking this means they are only for the faint hearted – these are still scare attractions and won’t appeal to everyone – there are still things that go ‘bump’ in the daytime too!”

Yorkshire Wildlife Park – Fantastical Enchanted Tales – South Yorkshire

“Take a walk through the enormous Mushroom Forest and a visit to an evil Queens Castle, if you dare! Experience the magical realm of unicorns and roam the colourful Rainbow Woods. Braver adventurers can take a trip to the Evil Dungeon.”

When? 24th – 28th October
