Below you will find a list of more than 15 + great role play centres in England. With a map to find a role play centre near you. These are not soft play centres with a role play section added. These centres are just for kids to enjoy role play. My son is only 6 but my goodness do I wish we’d had centres like this when he wasn’t in school.
They all look and sound such fun. A few do accept children 6 and over so hopefully, we will get the chance to visit one soon. Do you have a great role-play centre near you that’s not made the list? Children’s Play Village, Budbrooke, Warwickshire
What’s inside The Children’s Play Village – “The Children’s Play Village is for any child of any age that loves to play. The role-play areas have been designed to appeal to children age 3 and upwards, only stopping when your child no longer enjoy this type of play.
Steady, confident walkers under the age of 3 will also love exploring all the Play Village has to offer with close parental supervision. For babies and crawlers, we have a dedicated separate area for safe play.” They have a role play tea room, hair and beauty salon, post office, theatre, supermarket, village hall and picnic areas. Plus campsite, fire station, emergency, vets and school.
The outdoor play area will shortly be developed for ‘throw the doors open’ kind of days for those children who love to feel the wind on their face.

Curious Kids Town Sheffield

Dream Big Role Play, Chester Le Street, County Durham
What’s inside Dream Big Role Play – “At Dream Big, our play town is custom-built for children so we maximise the fun for everyone. In each of our 7 play areas, we have the relevant role play costumes and toys to go with the role, so the children will waste no time getting into character! The 7 role play areas we have are – Supermarket, Builders Yard, Vets, Beauty Salon, Jail, School and Cafe.

Imagination, Camberley, Surrey
What’s inside Imagination – “Our rooms have been created to encourage children to use their imagination in a fun and safe learning environment. Children can explore our different rooms and areas which include a Pirate Ship, Home Corner, Vets, Garden, Military Room, Supermarket, Dressing up area, Ride On Toys and a designated area for babies.” Imagination is an interactive role-play centre suitable for 0-6-year-olds.

Prices: Monday to Friday they operated timeless Days Monday- Friday. Come and play and stay as long as you like. There will be a 2.5-hour time limit on busy days. There are no session times, you choose when to start and when to go. At weekends they have 4 90 minute sessions a day. An off-peak child is £6.00 and £6.50 peak. This includes 1 free adult, additional adults are £3 each. Pre walkers are £1.00.

Kidzania in London is the biggest and was most probably the first dedicated role-play centre in England. “Designed for children aged 4-14, KidZania blends learning and reality with entertainment. During your 4-hour experience, children can independently choose from a number of real-life activities and test their skills in a variety of professions. Giving kids the chance to build their confidence, step into some real-life roles – everything from a Doctor, to a Police Officer, a Dentist and so much more – and to develop relationships with some well-established family brands all in one safe a secure indoor area!”

Prices: You book on four house sessions for Kidzania. They have a big variety of pricing tiers for tickets depending on the day and time you visit. The lowest price adult ticket is £16.00 and £26.00 for a child aged 4-14. Early years 1-3 are £10.00 each and younger are free. This price does increase during more popular times.
Little Land Play, Peterlee, County Durham
What’s inside Little Land Play – “It is a children’s play centre for the under 7s. A stimulating play environment that is the home of big imagination. We have created a place little people want to be and big people love to spend their time. A space where they can explore the real world through role-play and you can enjoy being with them. Little Land Play is more than a play centre; it’s a space that offers support to the needs to little and big people alike in a relaxed design-led environment.” There’s a stable, car garage, campsite, building site and supermarket. Plus a theatre, pizza place and a special area for the under 2’s.

Prices: Sessions run from 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes. You can pre-book online. Late afternoon sessions are cheaper and so are off-peak sessions. A peak session is £5.95 per child and under 1’s are £2.95.

What can you expect from a Little street role-play centre – “Responding to children’s love of role play, we have created a realistic street designed with little people in mind. What can you expect from Petite Street – “Welcome to petite street where little imaginations are encouraged to wander free in this creative world of role play. Prices: This seems to be the only place I found not running sessions. Prices are also hugely varied according to age. Over 5’s are £5.95 and supervising adults are free. Younger children are slightly cheaper

Teeny Town, Portsmouth
What to expect from Teeny Town – “Teeny Town is an interactive role-play centre. What’s that I hear you cry? Well, essentially it is a high street just all little people-sized. Your child can explore our 7 zones: Café – Make and create meals for your customers, serve tea, coffee and cake, or take a well earned break. Construction Site – Will you ride the digger, build the walls, or be in charge of the cement mixer, whichever one you choose make sure you have your hard hat and high vis on. Fire Station – Ride on our mini fire engines and put the fire out or play on our big fire engine with all your friends. Hoses and boots at the ready!
Supermarket – Go out for your weekly shop with your trolley or just pick up some milk and bread in a basket, but be sure you pay at the Teeny Town Checkout. Pre-school – Will you be the teacher or the pupil, enjoy our reading corner, our musical instruments, make sure your class learns lots. Hairdressers – Come and style our very willing customers, will it be a colour, cut or restyle, the choice is yours, make sure you don’t forget your hairdryer. Vets – There are lots of animals in need at Teeny Town Vets, get your surgical suit on and make them better, will it be the bird, mouse, dog, cat or even pig!

The Play Town, Stamford, Lincolnshire
