Things to do at Wrest Park review
Wrest Park is a country estate located in Silsoe, Bedfordshire. There is a beautiful park and a Grade 1 listed country house. The formal gardens surrounding the house are also Grade 1 listed. English Heritage maintains the property.
There are over 90 acres to explore at Wrest park with stunning countryside views, pretty woodland walks and beautiful formal gardens. The gardens are in a range of styles from Dutch to Italian. The show-stopper being the formal Long Water walk.
Keep your eye out for hidden gems including an ornate marble fountain, a Chinese temple and a pretty bridge. Plus there are over 40 statues to spot around the gardens. Kids will love the relatively new play area. The play area has been inspired by the property and there is lots to climb and play on including a zip wire. It’s conveniently located next to the cafe. You can also make the most of the outdoor space by loaning an activity backpack and there’s also an audio trail that has been designed especially for children.
Indoors there is a sculpture gallery with some magnificent statues that are too frail to stay outside. You can book on a tour of their treasure trove of archaeological collections. These are £5 per person and are family-friendly. You can also look round some of the opulent staterooms in the house.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
