Things to do at Cliveden Gardens review
Cliveden gardens in Taplow, Berkshire are impressive gardens where once the footsteps of dukes, earls, kings and queens trod. It’s a lovely family-friendly day out and there’s a fun themed adventure playground for the kids.
There is a range of gardens at Cliveden including a water garden that has an Asian feel to it. With Japanese planting, a Chinese pagoda and Koi Carp. The Italian garden has quirky statues and long floral borders. There is a beautifully scented rose garden and a fantastically grand Fountain of love.
One of the highlights of a visit to Cliveden gardens is the maze. It has two-metre-high hedges and it’s 500 metres of paths mean you could be in there for a while. There is also a walled garden with fruit and vegetables. You can also book on a guided tour of the iconic mansion house (which you can also stay the night in). Tours are very limited.
There are miles of woodland paths some of which offer panoramic views over the Berkshire countryside. There are also some unusual features to look out for including a flint grotto and a section of a giant sequoia tree. You can download walking trails for all abilities from their website.
Families will love renting out an electric boat with skippered vessels and self-drive hire available. You can also hire Canadian canoes, rowing boats and pedal boats. The Storybook playden is a lovely adventure play area. It is specially designed for under 10s and features carved wooden sculptures of your storybook favourites including Peter Pan, Captain Hook and the ever-hungry crocodile. The cafe is located next to the playden.
