Things to do at Wellington Country Park review
This is the largest outdoor play space in Berkshire and you can easily spend the entire day there! What’s wonderful about this beautiful country park is that it gets the kids outdoors whatever the weather.
In the summer the splash pad can keep the kids happy for hours, with lots of exciting jets of water, plus an adjacent picnic area where parents can sit and watch children play. There are various different play areas dotted around the park, including one for toddlers, a larger adventure playground featuring large slides and climbing frames, and a hilltop “snakes and ladders” play area with lots of huge slides for kids to play on.
One of the highlights of visiting Wellington is the dinosaur statues, which are huge! There are around 20 different statues to explore on the dino trail, including a huge T-Rex and triceratops.
For fans of fairy magic, there is a fairy woodland featuring lots of little wooden playhouses to climb in and out of, plus fairy doors dotted around on the trees.
The animal farm has a range of farm animals including chickens, goats, horses, pigs and sheep. Kids can buy animal food from reception and feed the animals, plus there are petting sessions every day where kids get the chance to get up close with the animals.
The team at Wellington update the exciting things to see along the miniature railway ride every year. There are dinosaurs, animals, fairies and letters of the alphabet to spot! The park runs themed events throughout the year, including a fantastic Halloween week, plus themed weekends over the school holidays. It’s a brilliant day out for children, from babies to age 10.
