Things to do at Ferry Meadows Country Park review
Ferry Meadows is a large country park perfect for families to visit. With 3 play areas to explore and den building in the woods there are lots to keep children entertained. The Play parks are made using natural materials with Otter Park primarily consisting of sand and water and Badger Park has a huge climbing frame with swings and slides.
Lakeside Park has swings, slide, rope nets and more. There is also a small steam train that runs between the main visitor centre and Lakeside (travel time is around 5 mins) and you can buy single and return tickets. (child return £2, Adult Return £3 or all day tickets adults £6 child £4)
Ferry Meadows is a great place for bikes and scooters as it is paved all the way around the 3 lakes making it really accessible. There are mobility scooters and wheelchairs available to hire, but must be booked in advance. As well as the play parks and large playing fields there is also the Lakeside Watersports Centre where you can hire pedalos, boats, paddle boards, kayak and wetsuits! There are plenty of picnic tables located around the lakes and plenty of trees for shade in the summer.
There are also BBQ stands located around as well as bins for placing used BBQs into. The Visitor centre also has Duck feed available in exchange for a donation (Suggestion 50p) and there is a jetty beside the lake to stand on to feed the ducks. Everything is outside other than visitor centre, gift shop, café and restaurant.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
