Things to do at the Lost Gardens of Heligan review

There is so much to see and do at Heligan Gardens. You can honestly get lost, wandering around the 200 acres of gardens, farmland and woodland walks, boredom is not an option! Set in the Cornish countryside near to the stunning historic fishing village of Mevagissey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a much loved day out.

As a local, my top tip to getting to Heligan Gardens is to follow the brown tourist signs through St Austell. A slightly longer route than going direct via sat nav, which takes you down some pretty tight single track country lanes unsuitable for large vehicles.

At Heligan Gardens you will find the Heligan Kitchen and Bakery, Plant Centre and shop. Then you enter the gardens, which are especially stunning in the Spring and Summer with flowers and produce. A map is given when you pay for entry so you can plan your route. We start with the gardens first then onto the farm. Here you will see many farm animals with some rare breeds.

Next up is the new for 2019 East Lawn Adventure Play Area for children. Included are slides and rope climbing. The Lost Valley and The Jungle are not to be missed as you make your way around, with giant exotic plants, pools, wildlife and one of the longest Burmese Rope Bridges in Britain. If you are fine with walking uphill the last part of your walk is through the beautiful ancient forest where you will meet the Mud Maid.

Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
