Wetheriggs Animal Rescue is a UK registered charity open to the public located on the A66 just outside Barnard Castle in County Durham. They have a wide range of rescued animals. The centre is family run and your entrance fee helps to run the rescue centre.
Visitors can get close to the animals and interact with some of them by feeding them and also through regular animal handling sessions. These sessions can include rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks, ferrets, snakes, lizards and more.
They take in injured and unwanted animals including domestic pets (excluding cats and dogs). Many of the animals they do try to rehome but many stay at the centre. The centre also has a play area including quad bikes. There is a large barn and outdoor paddocks.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
