Whinlatter forest park is a forested mountain park with biking and walking trails, a visitor centre, adventure playground and family-friendly trails.
The forest is home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trail in the Lake District. It is for experienced mountain bikers and mountain bike hire is available. It is England’s only mountain forest with some spectacular views.
The Wildplay project is a 600-metre long trail with nine separate play area designed for children age 6-13 years. The trail includes a rope bridge, large slide, plenty to climb on and water play. There is also a forest playground for all ages and themed trails are often available such as Shaun the sheep and the Gruffalo.
Go Ape also has a venue in the forest and has a charge for their adventure facilities. There are 9 walking trails in the forest and 3 cycling trails plus 2 running trails.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
