Things to do at Dartmoor Zoological Park review
Dartmoor Zoological Park is a 30-acre zoo near Sparkwell in Devon. The zoo is also named Dartmoor zoo and they are home to the largest collection of big cats in the south-west of England. The zoo was ‘rescued’ by new owners in 2006. Their story was documented in the famous book “We Bought a Zoo” which then became a film starring Matt Damon. If you’ve never seen it, watch it! It made me cry.
There is a great variety of animals at the zoo. Not only are there lions, tigers, leopards and cheetahs. But you can also expect to see otters, monkeys, zebra, wallabies, tapirs and many more. They also have a good variety of reptiles and birds.
The park has some great views of the surrounding countryside. There is also an upcycled playground for the kids to let off some steam. They also have daily talks and feeding sessions. The zoo holds regular events throughout the year plus animal encounters and special activities for families during the holidays. There is a small space indoors next to the restaurant for under fives.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
