Things to do at Pennywell Farm review

Pennywell Farm is by far one of our favourite places to go. We’ve had season tickets for the past few years and go there regularly – it’s just perfect for younger children and up to aged 7 or 8, I’d say.

If your children love animals, they will have an absolute ball at Pennywell. It is so hands on, they are able to get up close and stroke them all. The first place you’ll come to through the entrance is a petting area and staff are on hand to lift out animals such as guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits, ducklings and chicks onto your child’s lap for them to hold and stroke.

Moving out onto the main area of the farm you’ll find, goats, shire horses, miniature ponies, donkeys, and tortoises to feed and stroke. There are also deer, turkeys, sheep and cows. But one of the main highlights of a trip to Pennywell is their micro pigs – these cute little things are just adorable and children can hold them.

Staff at Pennywell run a full day of activities at set times including goat-milking, egg collecting, meeting the farmer, bottle-feeding, pond dipping, meeting hedgehogs, pig and ferret racing. The activities are announced each hour so there’s no chance of missing them.

There are also several play areas, crazy golf, a maze, trampolines adventure playground and an indoor play barn to keep the children occupied. If your children love rides there is the Rainbow Railway that is just lovely, a tractor trailer ride with animals to look out for, the Red Rocket ride for over 4s, and Run Rabbit Go Karts for older children.
