Things to do at The Big Sheep review
The Big Sheep in Abbotsham, North Devon is a fantastic day out for families that ticks lots of boxes for children of all ages. The attractions are a mix of indoors and outdoors making it a good option at all times of the year.
Farm animals feature strongly throughout. There are horses to groom and a great covered barn with animals to interact with and petting sessions. The young goats are a favourite with the children as they escape and wander all around the barn and are happy to be picked up. There are friendly sheep, llamas, pigs and some smaller animals. In the Spring children can get involved with bottle feeding the lambs.
If parents want to relax while the children play there is also a large soft play area with plenty of seating around. At certain times fun shows are put on and demonstrations like sheep shearing and duck herding. You can also look out for special event themed character days over the summer.
Outside there are adventure park rides. Enjoy the fun roller coaster that loops over the park and the Twister, a tall spinning carousel swing. For a more relaxing experience paddle out into the lake on the swan paddle boats or take the little train around the park. For the energetic, there are giant outdoor pillows to bounce on which are great fun for all ages.
A shop sells souvenirs and for the grown ups there is a brewery on site where you can buy a few bottles of the local brew to take home and try.
The Big Sheep is a lovely day out. If your children enjoy interacting with the animals for hours and are happy to go on rides more than once, you can happily spend most of the day at the Big Sheep.
