Things to do at Woodlands Family Theme Park review
There is so much to do at Woodlands Theme Park, kids from 18 months to 18 (and their parents) will have a great day out. It’s the largest theme park in Devon and with a mixture of rides, animals, soft play, and special events, it’s easily a full day out for the family. And if you don’t want to go home you can even camp there.
The huge site, near Totnes, is split into ‘zones’ and every time we go, the first stop always has to be to see the dinosaurs. Complete with Jurassic Park music, and giant moving models, you can see all the kids’ favourites such as a T.Rex, Diplodocus, Stegosaurus and Velociraptors, with a few more unusual ones thrown in. Watch out for the roaring ones though – they make you jump, however many times you’ve seen them before!
Little ones can run loose in the park’s Toddler Zone where there are various play areas, as well as an indoor Circus soft play, complete with bouncy castle and train. Or if that wasn’t enough there is also a giant three-storey soft play warehouse in another part of the site, which is one of the largest and best in the South West. You could literally spend an entire day in here if it’s raining.
Other zones include Ninja Zone, Arctic Zone, Fantasi Forest Zone, Action Zone, Sea Monster Zone and Cyclone Canyon. Each has its own rides and entertainment – with so much to do you’d struggle to fit it all into one day.
In the summer firm favourites are the daring Vertigo ride (not for the faint-hearted), inflatable water slides (to be avoided if you want to stay dry!) the toboggan ride, jumping pillow, pirate ship ride, bumper boats and pedalos.
Every visit always ends with a trip to the Zoo Farm to check in on the reptiles, meerkats, goats, pigs, parrots and horses. Woodlands also holds regular and seasonal events – its Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Grotto are fabulous, and visits from children’s characters such as Hey Duggee, Peter Rabbit, Paddington, Titan the Robot, Paw Patrol and Super Starz.
Eating – There are four diners and cafes selling a variety of food and drinks, as well as ice cream kiosks conveniently dotted around the park. You are welcome to picnic outdoors.
Facilities in brief – Theme park with animated dinosaurs, rides, animals, soft play and special events. There are toilets and a choice of places to eat.
