Things to do at World of Country Life review
This farm-themed family attraction in Exmouth is ideal for children aged 0 to 12. But it isn’t just about tractors and feeding lambs.
The World of Country Life has more than 20 attractions including indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, a display of vintage vehicles, a re-creation of a post-World War Two village street and a bird of prey show.
The star attraction has to be the deer safari. You pay an extra couple of pounds for this but it’s well worth it. You jump in a train of trailers pulled by a huge John Deer tractor and trundle through into the deer enclosure.
The park’s deer are well versed in the tractor safari and immediately surround the trailers looking for lunch. Keepers give you handfuls of pellets that the deer eat straight from your hand. The whole experience lasts about 20 minutes.
As well as this ride, my kids love the indoor pirate play area which comes with a huge wooden ship sat in a sand pit – ideal for tiny tots and their bigger siblings. They are also big fans of taking kid goats for walks and holding small animals in the pet centre.
Something you also have to experience at The World of Country Life is the bird show. This is put on by Hawksridge Bird of Prey Centre, which is based on site. When we last visited they were flying a bald eagle, eagle owl and peregrine falcon. There are perches positioned all around the audience so you get a really good view wherever you are sat. The birds fly so close to you that you can feel their feathers brush you as they pass.
We found it really easy to spend a whole day at The World of Country Life, dipping into the play areas in-between the timed activities like the safari and bird show. If you visit during the school holidays there are even more activities to tie in with the time of year, like Easter and Halloween.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
