Things to do at Moors Valley Country Park review
Moors Valley Country park is a large park in Ashley Heath, Dorset. It has a great range of facilities for families including a play trail, narrow gauge steam railway, Go Ape, cycling, walks and more.
In the forest, there is a Play Trail with unique pieces of wooden play equipment. These pieces include giant snakes, a large wooden bird and a crocodile crossing. The trail takes at least an hour, if not longer. You can also divert halfway along to the Tree Top Trail. This is a 5 metre high, 200-metre long wooden walkway amongst the trees. There are a further two imaginative play areas with a zip slide, space net, fortress of towers and crossings with a long tube slide. There’s also a large castle and sand works area so don’t forget a bucket and spade.
Throughout the forest, they have lifesize sculptures from The Gruffalo. There is an authentic steam train starting from Kingsmere station along the banks of the lake with tunnels along the way before stopping at Lakeside station. The train has a varied running schedule. A return trip would take at least 45-60 minutes including embarking etc.
If you would like to explore further you can bring your bikes or hire them. There are a number of paths and tracks. There is a charge to go on the high ropes, low ropes and Segways at Go Ape. Other activities include fishing, hawk walks, walking trails and Battlefield Live which is a live-action combat game for age 8 and over, this has a charge to take part.
