Things to do at Burnby Hall Gardens review

Burnby Hall no longer has a hall for the public to look around but it does have some very impressive and beautiful gardens, plus a recently opened museum. The gardens have benefited from lottery funding and they have spent the funding well. There is plenty to occupy two hours or more. If you take a picnic or lunch in the cafe you could have a relatively long day out at Burnby.

The highlight to a visit is feeding the fish. Make sure you buy plenty of pots of fish food (expensive at £1.20 a pot) but we kept going back for more as it was so much fun. There must be thousands of young fish in the lake which all want feeding and will virtually clamber over each other with their mouths open waiting to be fed. Plus the lake they live in is beautiful and soon to be covered in lilies once again.

There is a small but very interesting museum with artefacts from the tours of the world that the previous owners once enjoyed. There is also a new children’s playground with a big climbing area, two slides and plenty to swing on.

On the walk around the lakes, you will find a secret garden, an aviary in a Victorian garden, a stunning rockery and a stumpery that looks like fairies and elves could live there.

Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
