Things to do at Flamborough Head and Lighthouse review

No guide to things to do in the UK would be complete without including one of the most beautiful places to visit. Flamborough head is stunning and it’s somewhere I’ve been visiting for many years.

Flamborough head itself has white cliffs all around and the head itself looks down onto views of these cliffs and the sea. You can take the steep walk down from here to the north beach. Try to time your visit with the tide being out as then there is more to explore such as caves and rock pools. (do be wary of the tide at all times).

Back on the cliff, you have a great vantage point looking down on nesting birds, you might even spot a puffin at the right time of year. You can walk as far as you like along the cliff edge, it does erode in places so don’t walk too close to the edge.

Flamborough lighthouse has limited opening times throughout the year. It is still a working lighthouse which can be seen for miles around and was built in 1806. When it is open guided tours run every 30 minutes. The tour of the lighthouse lasts for around 20 minutes and you experience some wonderful views from the top.

Children must be 1.1metres to be able to visit the Lighthouse and there are 119 steps to the top. If you take a walk on the headland, spend some time down on north beach and visit the lighthouse you will easily spend a few hours at Flamborough head.

Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
