Things to do at Selwicks Bay Flamborough review
Selwicks Bay is our favourite beach in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it is astoundingly beautiful and when the tide is out it is great for exploring.
The walk down to the beach is steep and relatively long but what waits for you at the bottom is well worth the effort. Make sure you visit when the tide is out or even better just going out as then there is more to safely explore.
When the tide is out you can walk around the inlets and explore further than the beach. Around to the left, there are caves and other craggy picture perfect inlets. Make sure you take a net as there will also be plenty of rockpools to look in. You never know you might even find a crab. Selwicks Bay is also a popular place for nesting birds, so make sure you take your binoculars with you as you may even spot a puffin.
There isn’t much in the way of sand on the beach. It’s more a shingle so not ideal for sandcastles but don’t leave the bucket and spade behind as kids will love collecting pebbles and seaweed. There is no lifeguard on the beach and dogs are permitted all year round.
