The castle is one of the oldest significant brick buildings still standing in England. The property is Grade II* listed. There are a variety of themed gardens with the Elizabethan garden being the biggest and the most prestigious. Other gardens include the Sundial and Rose garden, Shakespeare garden, Shady garden and more.

Kids will love the enchanted magic garden. Along the woodland walk, there is a Folly to be found and if you visit at the right time of year the woods are full of bluebells.
