Things to do at Newhaven Fort review

Newhaven Fort is a fortress built in the 1860s which overlooks Newhaven Harbour and Seaford Bay in East Sussex. The fort was built to defend the harbour and is now open as a museum with lots to see and do for all the family.

You can journey deep into the fort’s tunnels and walk along the ramparts where you can see the gun emplacements. There is a recreated first world war trench and you can learn how the war changed the course of history forever in a highly-praised exhibition.

The Lost Fort is an immersive experience where kids can produce their own cave art and peek inside a Hunter-Gatherer shelter and see detailed scenes and images. There is a Sussex sea and air exhibition and you can experience life during WWII with a blitzed street, air raid shelter and more. There are three exhibitions where you can discover the story of the fort. These include a 12-minute film and replica displays. They also have an adventure play area outside for the under 12s. Plus some excellent underground tunnels to explore.

Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
