Epping Ongar Railway is a heritage railway in south-west Essex. The length of the line today is six and a half miles. It was once part of the London Underground line although the line runs above ground, not under.
The line passes through picturesque countryside, forests and historic towns. You can hop on a vintage bus from Epping or Shenfield station where you can be whisked back in time to their period stations with both diesel and steam trains.
There is a selection of family-friendly things to do close to the railway stations listed on their website. Such as suggested walks, an airfield museum, Epping forest and more. The railway also hosts a number of family-friendly events plus special dining trains.

There is a cafe at Noth Weald which serves a range of hot and cold drinks and light refreshments. At Ongar there is a Buffet Stop selling drinks and snacks. There is a picnic and viewing area at Ongar. Plus tables at North Weald. Both stations have pubs and restaurants nearby which offer hot meals.

There is limited parking at their stations. If you do prefer to drive then they recommend that you park at Epping station and use the heritage bus connection which is included in your great value fare.
