Things to do at Kentwell Hall review

Kentwell Hall is a stately home made of red brick with parkland, gardens and a farm in Long Melford, near Sudbury in Essex. It is open to the public and is well known for hosting historical re-enactments.

The stately house is set in Suffolk parkland and has a fascinating and unexpected history from the past 500 years. The house is part original Tudor, with later classical elements, mixed with the owners’ personal style. Tudor portraits, interesting artefacts and historic tapestries make this a family home with a difference.

There are over 30 acres of gardens with moats, extensive lawns, a walled garden, topiary and huge Cedar trees. There are surprises at every turn including a brick-paved maze, a topiary Yew castle and a Moat House. This is a rare survivor of a 15th Century which roses from the moat and contains a working dairy, bakery, brewhouse and stillroom.

Kentwell Hall is home to a rare breeds farm. You can explore their working traditional farm and meet their animals.
