Things to do at Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium review
The Winchester Science centre planetarium is located just outside of Winchester. They have a great choice of shows on at the Planetarium which you can book yourselves on. Most shows are about space and earth. They also have shows outside of the Planetarium including live science shows.
They have lots of interactive hands-on exhibits that help us understand all things STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths). Exhibits include a wind tube which launches mini-parachutes, you can test your balance ability in the sports zone. You can shoot balls across the building to try to hit the targets. Plus you can have a go at operating a huge brain by pushing levers, flicking pinball flippers and guiding marbles.
There’s even a colon exhibit where you can learn how different food types have an impact on our body including putting your hands through a toilet seat to feel what’s within! The Space zone takes you on a journey through the solar system and feels like you’ve stepped into an enormous spaceship. You can control robots, change the surface of the moon into the earth and more. There is a soft play area for younger children. Outdoors there is a wooden adventure playground.
Some exhibits are designed for one person to use at a time but many can be enjoyed by a few at a time which is a great idea.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
