Things to do at Croft Castle and Parkland review
Croft Castle is a lavish country mansion in Herefordshire. It is surrounded by 1500 acres of historic woodland, farm and parkland. It is a National Trust property with play areas for children.
You can visit the castle and find out how the family bought back their home in 1923. There are games and toys in the family room as well as dressing up. They also offer guided attic and cellar tours.
Outside in the gardens, there is a working walled garden, a vineyard and a 1908 glasshouse. There are plenty of opportunities for walks in the parkland, You can walk up to the Iron Age Hill fort which has some far-reaching views of the Brecon beacons. There are woodland trails with some 300-year-old trees to see along the way. You can even tackle an Orienteering course. There are a number of walks listed on the National Trust website.
Kids will love the natural play areas and there’s even a mini play castle. There are a few smaller play areas dotted around the parkland. There is something to suit all ages.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
