In Dan-y-ogof Cave you meander through 1 kilometre of beautifully lit caverns taking in the stalactites and stalagmites created over the years. In Cathedral Cave the water runs down the walls leaving patternation across the rock and gives an atmospheric feel to the walk. This cave culminates in a gargantuan opening, showcasing an impressive pair of 40 ft waterfalls which you can walk behind. To enter the Bone Cave you need to don a hard hat as the entrance is much lower. Inside the cave, an informative video describes how the caves were discovered and it’s history over the years.
Around the grounds, is one of the world’s largest life-sized dinosaur collections. It is just like stepping back into the Jurrasic era. The dinosaurs are hidden amongst the ferns, rocks and waterfalls coming to life as you pass by. Information boards educate you on the way round.
The Shire Horse Centre with its farmyard animals and 2 covered play areas and outdoor playground allow the children to run around for a while. There are also some energetic chipmunks within the farm grounds which were fascinating to watch. With the Museum, Iron Age village, Fossil House and stone circle area there is plenty to fill a full days visit.
