The South of England Rare Breeds Centre is located in Woodchurch, near Ashford in Kent. It is set in 100 acres of beautiful countryside which offers fun and adventure for all the family.
The Rare Breeds Centre is proud to be the only one in Kent and it is approved by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. They have a wide range of animals including goats, birds, horses, sheep, pigs and cattle. They have an indoor petting area with chicks, hamsters, rabbits and more. Plus a walk-in aviary with Lovebirds, budgies, cockatiels and finches. You can see a bird of prey display during your visit so make sure you check what time this is. It is dependant on weather conditions. You can also book a bird of prey experience for an additional cost.
The centre has a discovery garden where they grow fruit and vegetables. You can go on the Mysterious Marsh adventure trail which you have to negotiate without your feet touching the ground. There are wooden bridges, swinging tyres, balancing bars and more. It is a short walk from the main farm but you can take the Big Red Trailer Ride and ask to hop off at the Mysterious Marsh.
They have two outdoor play parks. Sammy’s playpen is suitable for all ages and has swings, slides and climbing frames. There is also a hill fort, tube maze and an assault course suitable for older children. If you would like to explore one of their woodland walks you can take either the green, red or blue walks (15, 30 and 45 minutes in length). in the summer you can take part in daily pig racing.
