Things to do at Blackpool Tower review

The Blackpool Tower is located along the main promenade in the heart of Blackpool and it is one of the most iconic sites in the UK. It opened back in 1894 and it has always been a tourist attraction. The tower is home to five tourist attractions.

The Blackpool Tower Eye – This is the attraction at the top of the tower at a height of 380 feet. Get there as early as you can to visit as the queue soon builds up, mostly because they can only allow a few up at a time in one of their two lifts. You start with a 4D film about Blackpool and then over to the lifts. There is a glass floor at the top looking right down to the street and sea below. There are two more levels to climb up.

The Tower Ballroom – The original Ballroom was destroyed in 1956 by a fire but the restorations mean it still looks authentic to it’s original construction date. You can actually have a dance yourselves on its unique sprung dance floor or enjoy an afternoon tea. Please check their website for events.

Tower Circus – This is one of the original attractions, it has never missed a season at the tower. It even has a floor that lowers the ring into a pool of water for Grand Finales.

Jungle Jim’s Indoor play – This is a large soft play area based on a lost city. Children can complete a series of adventures and go off in the search of treasure. Make sure to pre book on one of their timed sessions.

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon – Although they do introduce an element of humour into their shows they are also scary and not suitable for young children or those that scare easily. There is a ‘drop dead’ drop tower that simulates being executed by hanging and basically drops you 26 feet!.

Dino Mini Golf – This is a 9 hole mini-golf course themed on dinosaurs. They have realistic sounds and there are a few dinosaurs places around the holes.

Eating – There is bar for drinks and you can book an afternoon tea in the ballroom. There are plenty of places to eat nearby.

Facilities in brief – Blackpool tower eye with 4D film and lift ride to the top with a glass floor on one level. Dino golf, ballroom, circus, soft play and dungeons. Toilets and a bar.
