Things to do at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre review
This attraction is home to one of only three running Avro Lancaster bombers in the world. Although Just Jane Lancaster isn’t capable of flight still she does taxi runs up and down the runway. If you are lucky enough to have the money you can experience the sights and sounds on one of their taxi runs from within the plane. The museum itself has been recreated to its original design when it was last in use in the 1940s.
Located in East Kirby in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside. The centre holds a number of events throughout the year including some great flying displays. It’s worth checking their website to find out what’s on. It’s a great attraction to visit in bad weather as most of the exhibits are indoors. You just have a few buildings to walk between.
The large hangar is home to Just Jane where there is usually a team there busy working on the plane. The exhibits house plenty of WWII bomber command stories, photos, artefacts and sadly pieces from crashed planes. There’s even a cockpit that you can clamber inside. As well as planes they also have some vintage vehicles to look at.
The control tower has mannequins, equipment and authentic sounds set up in their rooms. There’s also many other buildings and displays to look out including a blackout mock air-raid shelter and more.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
