Things to do at Northcote Heavy Horse Centre review
Northcote Heavy Horse Centre in Spilsby Lincolnshire is a dedicated animal welfare charity. They care for horses, birds of prey and other animals offering them a forever home. Since 1989 they have been promoting animal welfare in an education setting offering visitors the unique chance to meet the animals and have a very hands-on experience.
The centre has a popular visitor centre and has attracted thousands of visitors over the years since they first opened. They rely on the generosity of the public and donations. At select times they offer the opportunity to lead or groom some of their horses. They also host special events.
It’s not just a place for horses! They are home to many different animals which you can see including pigs, alpacas, goats, birds of prey and more. Entry is free although they do ask for a donation where possible (excluding special events). They have no paid members of staff so all the money goes towards the care of the animals. As well as horse grooming they also encourage visitors to have lots of other handling experiences. As they are on a farm it can get muddy so make sure you take your boots.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
