Things to do at Imperial War Museum London review
The Imperial War Museum is a day out for those who want to learn more about history. It’s a pretty split museum, as many of the areas are perfect for children, though they do dive into more historically accurate information, but when it comes to the Holocaust area – that’s really only a place for adults.
This museum has a lot more reading than other museums in London, with many, many plaques and areas where you can learn more information on whatever you are looking at. There are a few interactive areas where you can play little games that were released during the Imperial War or try on helmets and jackets.
Reading through all of the different areas and spending time in the trenches and other interactive areas can suck up an entire day, as there really is a lot to read, see, and consume. A few areas inside the museum have changing exhibitions – which are free to go too – so you should look ahead to see if you want to visit those or what is on at the time you are going.
The Holocaust area of the Imperial War Museum is a place that will really take you back. It strips away all of the play of the previous areas and shows the graphic damage that has been done to humanity during this war. They do not allow children under the age of 14 into this area, nor do they allow photographs, but it’s well worth taking a look if you can handle it and want to know more about the effects of war.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
