Things to do at Holkham Hall review
Holkham Hall is an 18th-century country house close to the village of Holkham in Norfolk. Today it is home to the 8th Earl of Leicester and his family. The hall is well known for its special events.
Although the hall is lived in by the family you can still look around and there are many rooms open to the public. These include the marble hall, parrot room, saloon, chapel, some bedrooms, old kitchen and more.
There are large grounds to explore at Holkham. Work is currently underway to restore the 6 acres of walled gardens. Visitors can see how the work is progressing. Within the park there are both cycling and walking trails, you may even come across some of the park’s deer. There are around 3,000 acres for you to explore on foot or by bike with a number of different walking and cycling routes (cycles are usually available for hire).
If you are feeling adventurous there is a high ropes course at Holkham Hall. The course takes around an hour to complete and is open to those over 1m and weighing less than 20.5 stone. Those under 1.25m or under 6 years need an adult over 18 to accompany them. There is a charge to use this facility. You can also hire rowing boats, kayaks and canoes at Holkham for around £16 for an hour.
There is a large wooden adventure playground with plenty to climb, swing and slide on plus a sandpit. This area is recommended for children age 5-12.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
