Things to do at North Norfolk Railway review

The North Norfolk Railway is also known as “The Poppy Line”. It is a heritage railway in Norfolk and runs between the Victorian seaside resort of Sheringham and the Georgian town of Holt.

The railway is operated almost entirely by volunteers and it is East Anglia’s premier heritage railway. The main station at Sheringham has a children’s activity coach, food and drinks plus it’s ideally situated for a stroll through the town and along the promenade by the sea.

Weybourne is a well preserved country station and this is where you will find their locomotive and carriage maintenance restoration centre. Food and drinks are also available to buy and you can enjoy several walks with direct access to the Kelling Nature Trail, or you can walk down to the sea.

Kelling Heath park is their smallest station which also has access to the Nature Trail, this is a request stop on the return trip from Holt. Holt is the railway’s western terminus and is around 1 mile from the centre of town. The ‘Holt Flyer’ a London Routemaster Bus service meets most steam trains in the summer. There is a 300 square foot model railway at Holt station. The railway hosts annual family-friendly events.

Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
