Things to do at Monk Park Farm review

My 7-year-old loves animals, any kind of animals, insects, birds – you name it. He was feeling a bit down about not being able to feed and interact with animals due to the pandemic. After a couple of farm visits, he was still feeling disappointed. Luckily Monk Park farm was just the tonic and it was a perfect day out for him.

We started the day with one large bag of animal food. We ended the day having bought four more. Luckily it’s only 50p a bag so I was happy to buy more. We were happily overwhelmed with the number of animals that you can feed at Monk Park Farm.

They have some animals free-roaming such as goats, a pig, geese and ducks. These were all very eager to be fed. We started in their animal barn where there were all kinds of farm animals to feed. We also saw some gorgeous babies such as alpacas and kid goats. In here they have two daily sessions where you can queue up to help feed the guinea pigs. They sit on a wall and the kids can stroke them while they eat. It was all safely set up and we were very impressed.

We had a short walk around the top of their fields and then went for an early lunch in their cafe. There is a playground with a large obstacle course and a few other things plus peddle go-karts. We didn’t spend long here though as it was all about the animals. We walked past all their fields where again there were lots of hungry mouths to feed. Some you have to put the food in tubes, others you can’t feed. You follow the path around which then takes you through the woods (wellies recommended!).

You can take a barrel ride around the farm allowing you to get up close to lots of our animals including the Alpacas, Wallabies, Goats and more. (this wasn’t operating during our visit). There’s also a hay barn where kids can swing and climb. It was such a feel-good day out and we can’t wait to return.
