Things to do at Peasholm Park review
Peasholm Park is a pretty post-Victorian park on the north side of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It is just a short walk to the beach and other local attractions. It was originally opened in 1912 and the park has an oriental theme with a pagoda and a large cascade waterfall as its centrepiece.
Make sure you take some food for the geese, ducks and swans. There’s always plenty of hungry mouths to feed. There are also some really tame squirrels in the park which will literally eat out of your hand.
You can also hire pedals, rowing boats and canoes to go around the lake. You can go all the way around with the island in the centre. The pedalos are in the shape of dragons which kids will love and fits perfectly with the oriental theme of the park. There are also a couple of places to play mini-golf. Make sure you walk over the bridge to visit the island as the pagoda at the top is worth the walk.
Peasholm park includes Peasholm Glen which is a lovely wooded spot to walk around with lots of little waterfalls. There’s even a lovely spot away from the sea which is perfect for paddling your feet in. A highlight of the summer is their Naval Warfare event. It is played out for half an hour three times a week. It is a tradition that has been going for 80 years although covid had other ideas in 2020.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
