Things to do at Ripley Castle and Gardens review
Ripley Castle is a 14th-century house located in Ripley, North Yorkshire. The house is Grade 1 listed and it is just 3 miles north of Harrogate. It has been home to the Ingilby family for over 700 years. As well as being able to look around the house there are also gardens and parkland to explore.
The building was a Tudor castle that was then made into a house in the 18th Century. You can book on tours of the castle and they even have Children’s castle tours which are great for family-friendly fun (the tours are not always available, please consult their website).
Ripley Castle’s varied parkland makes it a great place for outdoor activities. There is an adventure play area for the kids, you can even have a go at archery or learn some bushcraft. For the more adventurous there is body zorbing, canoeing, kayaking and orienteering. Some of these activities are available via the Live For Today activity centre.
You can enjoy a walk around the deer park amongst oak trees that are one thousand years old. There is plenty of deer to spot and the walk takes you around the castle’s large ornamental lake and across the waterfall.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
