Things to do at Scarborough North Bay Beach review
The beach at Scarborough’s north bay is a lot larger than the beach at south bay. However, do be warned that when the tide comes in the beach gets considerably smaller. In the section alongside the road, you can expect to see the waves splashing onto the road at high tide which kids will love to see.
It is our favourite of the two beaches because it is a lot more laid back. It’s a peaceful place to spend some time as there are no amusements close by. There is a shop, a few cafes, crazy golf and a surf school plus some public toilets but that really is about it. You can also rent out one of their brightly coloured beach huts.
The beach is incredibly picturesque especially with its views of Scarborough Castle. We love to visit as the tide is going out as it’s a great beach for rock pooling. We have found more crabs on this beach than anywhere else on the Yorkshire coast.
Make sure you also take a walk to the giant sculpture of Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stragglers. It’s a great spot for a family photo. The beach has a lifeguard during the warmer months.
