Things to do at Yorkshire Arboretum review

The Yorkshire Arboretum entrance is opposite the popular Castle Howard. There is 120 acres of woodland and parkland to walk around on a variety of different paths. There is apparently more than 6,000 trees from around the world. It’s a really lovely place for a peaceful walk.

We had a picnic on one of their many benches that you can find around the site. They also have a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Including the picnic we spent around three hours there and that was in the rain! There’s a couple of ponds one of which we spotted many baby frogs making their way to the water.

There is no play area but there’s plenty of space for kids to run around and let off steam. There’s a good variety of paths most of which are buggy/wheelchair friendly but not all paths are level and flat. Dogs are allowed on leads.

Covid 19 update: We visited recently. They are currently only allowing you to pre book a time slot online in advance. They also have other safety measures in place. It’s a great place to enjoy social distancing.
