Things to do at Castle Ashby Gardens review
There is plenty to explore at the beautiful Castle Ashby Gardens and it is the ideal destination for a family day out. Your walk into the gardens will take you past the stunning Castle Ashby house and its vast private gardens. Within the public walled gardens you will be able to experience the well-manicured Italian Gardens, take a moment to sit in peace at the large pond in the Orangery, spot butterfly’s in the butterfly garden and then step into secret gardens full of beautiful scented plants.
Halfway through your journey within the gardens, you can stop in at the Menagerie. Here you will find animals such as meerkats, marmosets, large rabbits and chipmunks. Through the other end, you will discover chickens, other birds and larger animals including pigs.
Upon leaving the gardens you can stop at the large outdoor play area which sits alongside the tea rooms (please note, the tea rooms are closed during the winter months). Here you can enjoy some hot or cold snacks and a visit to the gift centre and nursery.
There are a number of events throughout the year at Castle Ashby Gardens that are worth keeping an eye out for – the Easter egg hunt is always popular, the craft fair and family day in May and later in the year, their pumpkin hunt. Also, in Summer, smaller events such as crazy golf or puppet shows are available for the children.
When visiting Castle Ashby Gardens I strongly suggest allowing at least 2 hours, depending how much of the garden you wish to see but you could easily spend 4-5 hours if you include a lazy lunch in the tea rooms.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
