Salcey Forest is maintained by Forestry England, it is just a short drive from the centre of Northampton. The forest has many miles of wood banks with building remains and ancient trees. Some of the trees are over 600 years old.

There is a playground in the forest where children can climb, slide and swing with the main play area close to the cafe and smaller places to play dotted around the forest.

In the forest, there is a family-friendly cycle trail that is relatively flat, wide and smooth. They also have3 walking trails including an Elephant walk, Church Path trail and Woodpecker trail. Other activities available include archery and axe throwing (there is a charge for those activities)

Families will particularly enjoy the Gruffalo Orienteering walk. Plus there is a Gruffalo Spotters trail. There are signs to spot and interact with using the Gruffalo Spotters 2 app. You can also purchase an activity pack (small charge).
