Things to do at Clumber Park National Trust review
Clumber Park is a huge National Trust park near Worksop in Nottinghamshire. When you arrive make sure you pick up a map so that you can get your bearings. There’s over 3,800 acres of parkland, gardens, woodlands and a beautiful lake to explore plus a wood play area for the kids and a discovery centre.
The journey into the park itself is one of the longest I’ve ever experienced. You can park in many different areas along the way and walk the park for free. Or you can park at the National Trust car park and pay to access more formal parts of the park, plus their facilities and play area.
The house that once stood proudly in the park has sadly been demolished but there is still plenty to explore. There is a very large and very pretty walled garden with plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables.
A popular walk is alongside the lake, make sure you take some food for the geese and ducks. If you visit at the right time of year you will see some spectacular rhododendron bushes. There’s also a chapel and other smaller buildings dotted around the parkland. You can even rent bikes if you aren’t able to bring yours with you. There are plenty of different kinds of cycling routes available. Some of the routes do include roads so do take care with children.
Kids will love the woodland play area and although it’s not massive they could easily spend a good half an hour playing there. There is also a Discovery centre with exhibits, activities and crafts for children. It’s a lovely decorated room and there’s even a fish tank in the centre.
Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.
