Things to do at Bristol Zoo Gardens review

Bristol Zoo Gardens is a conservation and education charity, the Zoo is located in the city of Bristol. There are over 400 species of exotic and endangered animals from across the world at the zoo all set within 12 acres of award-winning gardens.

The zoo’s animals include red pandas, gorillas, kangaroos and penguins. Plus there is an aquarium, meerkat lookout, lemurs, seals and more. The seal and penguin enclosure is an immersive experience where you encounter seabirds and penguins. You walk through the shipwreck where you will find their seals. You can view the seals and penguins on land and underwater.

The zoo has an activity centre with some family-friendly hands-on activities. These include face painting, brass rubbing, drawing, badge making and more. There is also an adventure playground with relatively new equipment. Another great feature is their water play area where you can paddle and splash about, build dams and play in the beached dinghy.

There is a really interesting bug zone and also a Butterfly forest where you can wander freely amongst their butterflies, moths and flowers. Another fun attraction is Twilight World where you can wander through an indoor exhibit set at nighttime.

Zooropia is a high ropes adventure course with 17 challenges to test your skills finishing with a zip wire. You will need a zoo admission ticket and a charge to use this facility also applies. Children from 5 years can take part and a ticket costs just under £8 per person.

The zoo also offers unique experience days which are available at an additional cost. These have age restrictions so make sure you check these before you book. Experiences include Junior Keeper, Meet and Greet Penguins. lemurs, meerkats, fruit bats and giant tortoises (these are single experiences).

Covid 19: Due to current restrictions not everything will be open, or it may be open differently to normal, at the attraction that you are visiting. Please consult their social media accounts, give them a call or visit their website if you can’t find the information you are looking for.

There is a restaurant and a take-away. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

Zoo set in gardens with a good range of animals and some excellent exhibits, play area, water play area and high ropes course. There are toilets and places to purchase food and drinks.

*Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online. *Higher-priced. An adult ticket without donation costs £16.22. Children 2-14 £11, under 2s are free. Annual tickets are available.

There is a car park, there is a £4.50 charge for visitors and a £2.50 charge for Members
