Things to do at Coombe Abbey Country Park review
When I think about having a cheap family day out locally, usually the first place that comes to mind is Coombe Abbey in the West Midlands. It is easily accessible for us and at £5 for a full day’s parking. It is incredibly reasonable. Of course you can pay less if you only want to stay for an hour but it definitely isn’t as good value as an all-day ticket.
With so much on offer, your only obstacle on a full day out might be the weather. On arrival at Coombe abbey, there is a visitors centre which offers toilets and a café. To the left of this is the first adventure playground. This one is suitable for children aged up to 12. It has a great selection of equipment.
Coombe abbey has 500 acres to explore beyond the visitor centre. With so many walks to enjoy. The pathways are fairly accessible to all from pushchairs and wheelchairs to scooters and bikes.
There are ducks to feed (Food can be purchased from the visitor’s centre) fields to explore, trees to climb and plenty of open space to picnic and play games. You can even use a BBQ at designated picnic areas by the car park!
On the other side of the country park is another adventure playground. This is for the more daring visitors, it’s pretty high but my children… and my 40-year-old partner love it. It’s really quite exciting climbing around so high up amongst the trees.
There is a kiosk here that sells drinks and snacks as well as ice creams, which is of course essential on a family day out!
From here you can loop back around and check out the main hotel which is quite spectacular. You might even find a Pet cemetery if you look hard enough.
It’s a wonderful place to visit and without a doubt, there is something for the whole family to do. I don’t think I have ever stayed for less than 5 hours in my many years of visiting. There is also a GoApe on-site at an additional cost.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places now require you to pre-book online in advance.
